DEPUTY MERZ RECEIVES LIFE SAVING AWARD

On August 31, 2016 at approximately 12:33 hrs. Deputy Merz responded to a report of a possible drug overdose in the Township of Peacock. Deputy Merz was first to arrive on scene and observed a non responsive male adult on the floor in and out of consciousness.

Because of training and the nature of the call, Deputy Merz determined that the male subject appeared to be suffering the effects of a drug overdose. Deputy Merz administered Naloxone that is used to treat a narcotic overdose in an emergency situation and the subject regained consciousness. Within a minute or two, the subject was able to speak and was transported to the hospital by EMS.

The quick action and attention to detail by Deputy Merz was instrumental in saving this person’s life. For his actions Deputy Merz received the lifesaving award.
