BUILDING REPLACEMENT
For over thirty years, the Deputies of the Lake County Sheriff’s office have worked out of the old Sheriff’s "house" and it is time to be replaced. When I started at the Department as a reserve many years ago, this building housed the Sheriff, Undersheriff, Road Sgt., one Detective, and three Road Patrol Deputies and now it is used by 15 full and part time Officers and part of the lower area is used for juvenile holdover.
It has taken years of planning and a lot of hard work by all involved to put together plans for a new building. The renovations will provide a new juvenile hold-over room, and house the Road patrol, Detective bureau, the Sheriff, Undersheriff, and a new evidence room. It will provide some things the old office did not have such as a locker room with shower facilities. We are happy to report that the funds being used to build this office come from self-generated income provided by the RRP that is operated by the Sheriff Department.
